Gas or wood burning?should you direct vent gas?what is alternative?

This is a gas direct vent unit. If burning gas, our opinion is that it's always best to use a direct vent unit as it provides great heat & exhausts the bi-products of the flame to the exterior. However, there are great alternatives if you are unable to use a direct vent fireplace. Vent free is a wonderful alternative as long as you understand the pro's & con's and size the unit appropriately. In addition, there are B-Vent gas units if you want an open flame w/ little to no heat.
