What size to make light mounting board vs mirror & pedestal sink size?

Hey All, I am repurposing a smaller oval-shaped pedestal sink that's widest part is 22.5 wide and 17.5 on the smaller part of the oval shape (faucet to it's opposing edge). I have a 36 inch round mirror with weathered oak frame that is 36" that I am putting above the pedestal sink. I am making a DIY Farmhouse style double vanity light to go above the sink & mirror. It has 2 galvanized ooseneck lights. I have a 35 inch board that they said would be a good width to use to mount the lighting to, but here is my question:

Should I just mount the lights to the 35 inch board as it is to balance the mirror size? OR Should I cut the mounting board to 24 inch to help balance out the 22" pedestal sink so it doesn't look so small next to the mirror? Getting new sink or new mirror is not an option - we are WAY over budget on our project. Here is a REALLY rudimentary drawing not to scale, obviously... what are your thoughts on how long the mounting board should be?
