Thanks Jan. I think it will be pretty too, but I just wanted to be sure of the maintenance. Because it won't get daily use, the tile store said I would just need to seal it about once a year. That's no problem. Thanks for giving your time and input

Sounds lovely. I absolutely love marble in a bathroom. There's a little maintenance, as was mentioned in previous posts, but it is worth it to have that beautiful stone. Good luck with it!

We have had marble tile in bathroom shower for 15 years. I do 'wipe down' the shower every morning with bath towel. Still looks as good as the day it was installed!

Marble, like limestone and other soft stones can etch from certain cleaning products and even hair care products. They are beautiful materials, are otherwise indestructable and have been used in bathing rooms for centuries. I would encourage you to choose a "honed" tile for the tub/shower over "gloss/polished" so any etching is not obvious. Infrequent use as an extra/guest bath makes any problems even more unlikely. Go for it!
