Ultra suede and microfibers are considered particulary kid (and pet) friendly. Leather too. Most man-made fibers (such as polyesters and olefin) with a tight weave are good too because they're solution dyed and easy to clean. The best thing to do is to find a vendor in your area that treats your furniture when you buy it and then they take care of it if there's a stain problem. Or how about slipcovers in a washable fabric (like twill). Pop them in the washing machine whenever needed!
