how do you blend light maple floors with white walls. they look good in the phots but it is harder to pull of

There are different whites. Bring home some white paint chips and hold them against a piece of stained wood in the natural light of your room. Take a day to do this and look at it in the morning and at night to pick the right one.

the point is not to blend but to support the tones themselves, you need a minimum of contrast....
