gucci sunglasses are on sale at NM. I tried on a gucci style (the round cat eye) and we didn't like them as much on my face... but I like the NM sale prices.

These are the ones I like... really a pretty basic shape/style but I so loathe shopping for frames. When I find something I like, I don't want to keep looking!

Sure. I get them at Lenscrafters, although I now have a membership to Costco. I recently bought a pair of RayBans with prescription lenses. Just the cost of the frame plus lenses. I don't think it matters at all whether the lens has correction or not.

But you lose the benefit of the RayBan glass.

Just don't get frames that have a significant curve to them. Prescription lenses won't work if they are curved -- I mean, they can't be curved.

I have, and progressives too, with a curved lens.

Ded, you probably have an astigmatism like I do.

4boys, thanks for that link. I have to think really long and hard before ordering lenses online. I have an extreme astigmatism and the measurements on the curve need to be exact. In fact, bf has talked to a few online stores on my behalf and at least one of them strongly recommended not ordering my prescription online.

It's a shame because that is a substantial savings.

I am very nearsighted and my everyday lenses are rolled and polished so they aren't so thick inside the frame. They can't do that with sunglass lenses, so the lenses are very thick. I didn't know that when I ordered them, and got a larger frame, so they are somewhat heavy. I don't notice it when I'm wearing them driving, or sitting outside, but if try to wear them on a run or fast walk, they fall down. Something to think about if you have bad eyesight.

Good info< Legomom! I never had an issue with the weight of my sunglasses but my bad eyesight is all astigmatism which doesn't exactly translate to thicker-- well, it does but not thicker all over. I think I have always paid more for the best and lightest glass.. I am not actually remembering too clearly. I do pay a LOT for my glasses. From what I've seen, my glasses cost about 3x what most others report.
