Suggestion: A way to lock posts

It would be handy to have a way for the original poster to lock his/her thread. I've noticed (especially on the long threads) that people will continue to respond to a dilemma as if there weren't 200+ replies and a resolution already decided upon.

Why can't they have a bottom button that they can click: resolved!

I love that idea, but a lot of times, new issues are brought up and other houzzers start relevant discussions about the issue that may help someone else down the road to find answers to their questions.

Hi Granite - the only problem is that we are wading through 100s of comments (there is one right now that exceeds 1,000 comments). It just becomes too much and frankly, repetitive.

One is quite active with over 1500 comments. But the original poster is still engaged. My issue is more about giving advice and never hearing a word back!

Maybe we just need a way to make sure posters have ACTUALLY READ THE THREAD! Or at least the last dozen comments or so. :-)
