The island top measures 5' by 6'. Makes for a great prep, serving, eating space.

How do you layout the cabinets for the island? Love the overhang on two sides for more seating! Trying to recreate this type of setup for our kitchen layout for our future home build. Any tips for building an island like this (cabinet layout, framing set up...) would be appreciated!

Hello --- the original design of the island was made up of four cabinets, with the overhang it is 5'x6'. Facing the range with no overhang there is a 36" wide set of pot drawers(C07) and a 24" wide roll our recycling bin drawer (C10). The side that faces the sink with no overhang is the side of the recycling bin cabinet and then a set of 24" wide drawers (C01) that face the sink. Under the 6' side of the island that has an overhang is a 36" wide set of cabinets with doors (C15). This is for rarely used holiday dishes. The 5' seating side of island is just the sides of the two 36" wide cabinets. All cabinets are standard 24" depth stock cabinets. The corner "conversation" design works really well for dining but also keeps the sink and range sides clear of seating. Hope your project goes well and that this helped. Blessings, Lisa
