Are the built-ins stained or painted, and what color was used?

I am looking to do something similar in my bedroom and when getting estimates, they asked me if I wanted them stained or painted because that matters when it comes to choosing the wood. I don't know much about that, but I love the color used on these built-ins. I appreciate any feedback. Thanks.
