In addition, color, especially a neutral one such as gray, can look vastly different depending upon its surroundings and lighting. I would recommend that you gather paint sample chips of grays that you like, then tape them to the cabinet and observe them in daylight, at night, and with artificial lighting to determine which you like the best.
