Are there pillars/posts to the left of your door? I can't see any, but maybe it's the perspective

Have you considered the layout of your furniture? The amount of wall space on either side of the window will affect what can go where so if you have an idea of the furniture you want the window size could be influenced by that.

Thanks for your response! We are currently looking into the cost of custom windows. Is there a "rule of thumb" as to the preferred ratio size of window to room size that you use?

Thank you for your input! I agree that window treatments will be tricky. I'm considering shutters.

No ratio, per se. But the scale of the rectangular window is just right. Use those dimensions for your analysis.

i was planning to put a 3 seater sofa and maybe 1-2 end tables to the sides. With 6 ft wide window, it would be narrower than the sofa. In my opinion i think the window should be as wide if not wider than the sofa. What's your opinion?

In this case, with a square room and such a low sill, I would float the couch and put two chairs across from it at the window, or I would put two couches perpendicular to the window with chairs across from the window if it's an open scheme or not if it's closed off.
