Name That Plant!

Plant with yellow flowers late Spring/ early Summer

This plant stayed green all winter. It had yellow kind of flower spikes starting late Spring last year. Since there are a lot of them now and I am pretty sure I have seen them growing in ditches last Summer, I would like to make sure it's not some crazy invasive thing.

Oenothera sp. Most likely Oenothera biennis. Most consider them a nasty weed others see them as a charming native.

Let one grow and observe. They are a biennial. Don't let it go to seed to control numbers.

I actually found it charming last year and the bumblebees really enjoyed it. So I guess since it is a native I am just going to keep it in check. Other then the daffodils there isn't really anything in this spot.

Oenothera glazioviana is common. So it might be possible for it turn out to be that one.

I don't remember the flowers having red sepals. Is that the way to tell? I guess it will flower soon enough.
