I have an acrylic clawfoot and it stays hot long enough for me!

I have an acrylic tub and find water stays plenty warm, but I don't soak for a ton of time and you can always top up the hot water if/when needed.

I was going through this same dilemma recently, I am leaning more towards the cast iron claw foot. Looks much nicer in person!! Acrylic is always going to look like acrylic. After a few years it can start to dull. Cast iron will outlast acrylic!

I purchased a refurbished cast iron claw foot tub. It is heavenly!

I had one many years ago and wish that I had one now,they keep the water warm for a long time those old beauties .

Longevity of cast iron tells a tale. If home was contemporary, a flip or not worthy of quality investment would I not go with a cast iron. Just put in a beautiful stand alone cast iron wrapped with metal it is the star of our master bath

Building our house & wanting an original clawfoot in the guest bath, our engineer called for 2x10 joists. You get that tub + water + body and you have a lot of weight...but it works if you have the support. P/S: 2nd story also.
