Sarracenia Bug Bat - what now?

I bought one of these on a whim when I saw they are winter hardy in my zone, but after reading a bit more about them I'm confused on just how to care for it. Despite being described as the easiest for beginners, I keep reading how if you keep it too wet or too dry you will kill it, topsoil/native soil/potting soil will kill it, tap/purified/filtered water will kill it, too much/too little sun will kill it, it needs a winter dormancy/winter will kill it, sneeze on Tuesday and you'll kill it....

I may just begin to resent this plant because I can't find a clear answer anywhere.

Right now it's in its original pot in a dish of water on my deck, but I'll need to pot it up soon. I admit to having watered it with regular filtered tap water and bottled purified water in the month I've had it, but it's still pushing out new pitchers so I guess it's all right for now. I'll get some distilled water later this week, but beyond that I am at a loss. It was originally intended for my woodland garden border, then I thought it might do well sitting in my container pond, but now I'm not sure.

So for people with experience, what do I do with bug bat?
