I don't understand this about Osmanthus Fragrans?

What is it about these trees...I see many here already getting flowers and mines are still green, every year that is right until almost time to bring them in...

Some here live a heck of a lot further south than I do and yet they flower...Why mine don't flower until almost freezing is beyond me, and only once a year to boot!

I have one that is over 7 feet tall and some even smaller than that.

I do know that weather is a big factor in blooming as well as the usual things such as nutrition and amount of sun they are in. One thing I might suggest to encourage blooming is adding some dolomitic lime to the pot. The calcium in the lime can really help with blooming. (for next year)

Mine sure bloom for me a lot round year in central Texas especially the regular ones from big box stores. To my surprise, they were pretty easy to grow where I live now compared to the previous house so I don't honestly know why.
