Hi Sharon, you need to plant them approximately a quarter of an inch deep in a well draining, moisture retentive potting soil suitable for your climate and conditions. If you have squirrels, rats/mice or birds able to get to them, cover the pots with something like window screen or hardware cloth (even plastic hardware cloth) so light, air and water can freely pass through it, but prevent some critter from digging up and eating the seeds. Many species of birds will also dig out the seeds to eat them and quite a few will actually pull up the small seedlings to eat them. Good luck!
