You could have used a liner but now that you have it, it's not so bad, and at least the picture is interesting and colorful. Beverly has lowered the art to the correct height. I would just ask that you not clutter up the surface now and take away the impact of the painting. I hope there is a beautiful area rug in the future of this nice room.

I thought it was fine originally, even w/tops of door and window. But lower positioning is good too. Ingrid’s advice to resist cluttering surface is good.

HI -- I would hang it even lower to about three inches above and have a chunky base lamp off to one side ... I would say in front of the lighter side of the picture... so on the left .

I like the idea of lowering it! And I most certainly like the idea of not cluttering the top. Adding a liner, to me, would make it a little too busy. The chunky lamp on the left helps a lot. Now... to find a chunky simple lamp with a West Indies/British Colonial feel that is not so busy so I won't take away from the roseate spoonbill. Ha! Any ideas would be most appreciated!

Adding a linen liner would mean losing part of the picture or buying a new frame.

Live with it - and that pink definitely has to show up several places in the room. Pink sheers and deep pink and green striped or print panels for the windows? too frou frou?

Table runners only belong on dining tables, otherwise, they are 'doilies'.
