I do not care for fireplaces (faux or otherwise), so take what I say with a grain of salt. Personally, I would remove it as it looks kind of out of place there and not super attractive.

Without seeing the whole room, I have the impression that the fireplace's placement is odd. I mean, how could a corner fireplace keep anyone warm? I'd lean towards removing it ... but keep in mind, since it's "faux", you could place it elsewhere, if you choose.

The fireplace itself seems a jumbled mess -- insert, modern stone, formal surround, then the built-ins -- nothing matches in material or style. I'd remove and replace with something that blends into the wall a bit better, like some low white cabinets with art above, or some simpler bookcases. Or nothing, and put your storage elsewhere!

Do you like it? Do you need the storage? If it was all the same color, as most built-ins are, it would blend in more, rather of looking like an afterthought.

It doesn't appear to be a large room. I'm wondering why there are two ceiling fans there?

Can you post a pic of the whole room in order to see how much it relates?
