Estate Sale Haul this weekend

User

Besides the sampler (which turns out to be real -- 1827 real), I got a silver napkin ring that says "Tillie", an appliqué quilt (twin size), a hand crochet bedspread (done by the owner's grandmother who passed away in 1944 so it was made before then -- I'm thinking way before) and a lamp (because I have a lamp fetish). And a wicker plant stand! Prices were good and my whole haul I got for a little more than $100. Some of my treasures:

The bedspread -- and I'm sure it has a pattern name . . . it looks good on my Guest Room bed:

The guilt -- I thought it was sweet

I put it in the guest room for now as well:

Hi . . .I'm Martha and I have a lamp problem! Didn't need it but it was unusual -- made of wood and I have no idea of the age but the base looks "arts and crafts" but it may be 60s for all I know -- but I think it looks good in the living room:

Mostly here when we liquidate estates they are auctions. So this was more fun to me for I'm not sure I would have spent a day or two sitting around waiting for some of these treasures. It was much easier to go over and walk through the house and see what spoke to me.

Sorry no photos of napkin ring or plant stand . . . but you have seen the sampler.

Wow! What a fabulous estate sale that must have been!

When I venture into one here all I usually find is a bunch of cheap stuff that makes me wonder why anyone would buy it in the first place.

I have a huge weakness for crochet: I keep buying tablecloths as long as they are not too stained and damaged. But almost always found in antique stores, so some picker was finding the good estate sales.

This is the second sale at the same house -- first time around I got a tablecloth (not a bedspread) that her grandmother did (there was a note attached) and grandmother passed in 1944 so really assuming it was 30s. Cool looks like it has never been used.

Great stuff - the bonnet girl is sweet. My mother is a quilter and she did one in that pattern for my niece. I got one that had Japanese dolls :-). I have no way of using all of the stuff that I have boxed away. I wish I knew it would be going to a loving home as I am stalled in terms of how to deal with all of the stuff.

I'm so glad that you're using what you've bought, and the crocheted bedspread looks just right in your guest room. The blue in the quilt lights up the room; it's perfect in that spot. What an interesting ceiling treatment. I almost always want to see a large rug in a bedroom, but your room is one of the very rare ones where there is such warmth in the colors and patterns of everything in it that it doesn't seem necessary. The bookcase filled with books is wonderful here. Everything is so perfectly balanced in color, pattern and scale. I would love to see the other rooms in your home.

Your ceiling caught my eye also. Can you post a picture of the entire design?
