asymetric fireplace small wall and living space

This asymmetrical fireplace wall is causing a standstill in our renovation project. I am looking for designs that would make the wall a focal point, but not overwhelm the room. The wall is 9’8”long and 8’ tall. I have antique oversized mantle I could work with (you can see on wall the larger outline and picture of it in our basement with PLAY painted above it). I am open to minimalist, floating mantle or built ins. My husband liked stacked stone and I’m okay with it surrounding the firebox, but I’m afraid it will be overwhelming. I would like the room to be cozy, I have some rattan furniture (natural wood but can be painted) and will be getting a comfy sectional). We will be mounting a tv to the wall above the fireplace. I included a pic of a temporary set up with Billy bookshelves. The whole room is 11’x 15’ and it’s our main living room, but we also will have basement media room within a year.

What if you did a tile wall, right up to the firebox? Although I like your mantle, I wouldn't use it because well, I would hit into it every time I came around the corner.

In fact, I wouldn't use any mantle. I just think it could look great on it's own, perhaps with a nice green tall plant to the left.

Is there a different wall for the fireplace? Alternatively, I'd put it on a low floating console on the left hand side of the fireplace... I know you already have a plan, so just an option!

So this photo isn't exactly what I'm thinking, but I like that tile is not taking up valuable space in your home as a stacked stone would, yet it also doesn't seem cold at all. Here, all the focus is right on your fireplace.

When you have the media room will you still keep the TV in your main living room. If not, there are a lot of possibilities. If you are keeping the TV, I think you need to go with a minimal contemporary look. Hang the TV, no mantle, no tiles or rocks, and put a plant on the wall to the left.

Update: Here is the design I decided on. The lumber is on order and wiring is done, the wood for the top part is already up. Yes, the tv will be staying and there will be a 6” deep mantle top. The legs of the mantle will have more depth than the example image to give it some dimension. I’m most likely doing a herringbone tile surround like the picture with the blue flowers. I’ll update with more pictures as we make progress.
