Suggestions for backyard fence

I'm looking for any suggestions for reasonably-priced fencing for our back property line. Overall, I would like greenery there so the fencing itself is less important but we do need something as we are in Los Angeles (i.e., the neighbor behind us is close enough that we need some privacy). We are doing a full indoor and outdoor renovation and so, of course, things like this fell to the wayside at first. Now, there are some budget restrictions. We want something that won't require a lot of maintenance, will not look cheap, but doesn't have to be top of the line because we want greenery in front of it.

On that note, any suggestions for good greenery that will mature and "hide" some of the fence? I'd love to look to the backyard and see as much green as possible. The below is not really what we're looking for but conceptually right (you can still see the fence but the greenery dominates). Thank you all in advance!

Using metal panels for fencing is very affordable and gives a very modern look.

Here is a fence we made for a client using corrugated metal panels, these are easily sourced at large hardware stores.

For the fencing, its hard to give suggestions without knowing what style you have for your home.

As to plants, popular shrubs in LA for covering up a fence: Podocarpus, Toyon, Privet.

Thank you! Our home's style is probably best described as transitional. It's single-story. The deck will be ipe and we'll have grass and a pool. The exterior is stucco (light gray) with black framed windows. Not sure if that helps?

My last house had a tall "fence" made from sheet metal panels. It was there when we bought the house but we are considering doing it again in our new house (only 3 doors down) There are apartments behind us so we want something high but affordable. You can get these in different colors. This isn't the best pic, but one I had accessible. We added some different tall plants that ended up covering most of the fence.

The green fence was there when we bought the house. But my husband said he did a google search for sheet metal fencing and found a local wholesale fence place. They come in sheets that are 3ft wide and like 6, 9, or 12ft +\- lengths. That green one panels were screwed together and then screwed onto square metal posts.

We are probably going to do the same thing at our new house soon. A lot of pics I find have the panels running vertical instead of the horizontal ones of my green fence. but The height or configuration you need may determine that.

Also, our Neighbor has a similar fence but shorter And she has wood posts between them and it adds a little nicer look. But hers is along the street ane Visible.

DH just said it’s called R Panel. Maybe google that and see what comes up.
