NHBabs is on the right track with a lot of good ideas. This is an adorable house and looks well cared for. Unless this is the only space you have for pickup football games, I think you need to put a nice kidney shaped bed in the middle of the yard with an ornamental tree and some perennials. Maybe a retaining wall on the left side to help manage the elevation change along with a large bed that balances out that corner of the house. Is the gable color more of a light tan? That could be a good choice for the garage door. And you get decorative hardware that will give the garage some oomph.

Agree with all the suggestions. The only window sized right for shutters is the far left, so removing all of them makes sense. In this case I kind of like the white garage door with the white trim on the rest of the house. Maybe it's because the garage door is small. Some hardware would help, and maybe a garage door with windows across the top.

I think levelling the lot visually by planting large shrubs on the hill would be nice. I also like the idea of a low fence to add depth and oomph to the entry. Adding a large planter under the centre window will give it the proper proportion.

Painting the brick gray will modernize it and would look nice with black or cedar accents shown below.

Leaving it red looks nice with black accents like you have except for the shutters on the centre window which make the proportion worse.

Your home is beautiful. Please do NOT paint the brick! I would add a white wood railing to the porch/stairs, and do the landscaping as shown by Yardvaark.

Yeah, what grapefruit and Yardvaark said. Plus, lose the shutters; they don't fit any of the windows (far too narrow and fake).
