Help!! need to decide the border of newly finished hardwood floor

Hello, We are refinishing and installing hardwood floor (red oak). We have lots of deep honey tone woodworks all around the house. I'd like the refinished floor to be clear natural (water based finish). You can see the new color on left side of the first picture (the old color is more like the right hand side one).

My issue is the border ("noses"?) around the floor. Originally I was thinking refinish them all to the new natural one. However, there are several border extends to another room which has carpet (we want to keep the carpet in this room) but lots of wood cabinets/shelves/trim (baseboard) with deep honey tone finish like the right hand side sample shown above. You can see those 'noses' as shown by the arrows on the next couple of pictures.

Is it better to refinish them all to the new light color or leave those all to the old color? If choose to leave them to the old color, what about the border between two rooms which will all have new color? (as shown on the next picture)

It's a little complicated. I appreciate your suggestions!
