I don't think so - missing any of the purple blotching on the stems that is characteristic of hemlock, so likely one of the many other Apiaceae look-alikes common to this area. Should also have a very rank smell if crushed.

Did you notice how tall it was when it bloomed last summer? Hemlock is tall - 6-12'.

Not that tall. I looked through all of my photos but couldn’t find any of them last summer. Maybe 2 ft tall and blooming...

Only 2'? That cuts out a lot of plants that looks similar. Does it have any smell?

I broke a stem and it smells very much like fennel.

Osmorhiza is a good guess. It smells like licorice according to the web. I’ll probably need to wait for flowers At this point to confirm. I looked through all of my pictures and couldn’t find any despite a memory of taking one last summer.

Thanks Embothrium. That does look like it. I’ll post another picture when it blooms this summer.

I still like Oenanthe sarmentosa. Any divergent opinions?
