Reverse osmosis apparently works to get rid of the microplastics in the water but it you only get one gallon of water out of every 4 gallons you put in. Other filtration systems work a little less well but do the job. We really need to figure out how to stop producing microplastics. Plus do cleanup.

We are in a terrible state, on Earth, and although there is some concern, there is not a proper widespread sense of urgency about it. People seem to be more worried about the hot-button political issues than the fact that our planet is failing. Personally I have a grudge against plastic water bottles and kcups, junky plastic toys from McDonalds, etc. I avoid using plastics but it’s hard. Recycling isn’t working.

Manufacturers just use too much plastic, period. It's almost impossible to buy anything except loose produce/bulk foods that isn't wrapped in plastic or contains bits of plastic. And most people just use the plastic bags provided in the produce section instead of reusable produce bags, as well as plastic grocery bags.

Also, while dog poop is certainly gross, it's a lot safer for the environment than the plastic bags people are expected to use to pick it up at all the parks in our area. The poop will reabsorb into the environment, the plastic bags won't.

it is soooo hard to avoid using plastic, and often rather expensive. I try but so much food and so many products are packaged in plastic. It's cheap and lightweight, and that seems to trump all, unfortunately.

I think the rest of the world, except for those struggling to eat, are far more worried about our Earth than we are, due to our current political climate.
