if chairs match, do ottomans have to match

I have 2 ikea wing chairs in a room that is being used as a sitting room /parlour( no sofa/no coffee table). Do the ottomans have to match if they are TOTALLY different from one another? One is a square “pouf” the other is more like a stool. The attached photo is a work in progress so haven’t decided on side tables yet.

I think two different ottomans in this space will be fun. I assume one of them is the striped pouf in the the first photo. I'd wouldn't do a striped lumbar pillow though. Maybe a bright floral instead.

No I don't think they need to match. Did you try the chairs facing the FP?

The furniture is not placed in its final position yet. We are finishing painting the corner round (we changed out the flooring) so it keeps getting moved in and out of the room. Here’s the before photos.

Looks like a major palette change, so I assume the fall colors are going away. Fred's charts are a big help in getting the tables/lamps the right height and scale for the seating pieces. It would be helpful to see both ottomans to advise you.

Grover’s pillow is one of my long-time favorites ( I have the square version in one of my ideabooks.) However, I am wondering will the plaid sofa be in the same room ? Not sure that would work with the succulents print, but I do love it on your chairs.

No plaid sofa is before. Floors changed. Fireplace and stone wall added. Carpet added. Wing chairs added. Ottoman added. Brown curtains now removed.
