I would do a new backsplash at some stage if you redo the kitchen those cabinets are too close to the counter too.

Add under counter lighting will make all the difference. Make sure the lights cast a good “color” .

Thanks for suggestions. Can’t change backsplash right now. Ill look into lighting options though!

New under cabinet lighting will cost more than replacing the backsplash. Both need to happen ASAP.

Not a pro and I hope it's just the angle of your photo in the comments, but most OTR microwaves I've seen don't extend much, if at all, below the line of the adjacent cabinet edge. It looks very close to your gas range.

Perhaps look for an accessory (dish towel, rug, picture) that ties the colors together. If that isn't an option, I would at a minimum look for something that coordinates with the backsplash (gray bowl, dish towels, etc.) to make it look more intentional. Generally things will look more "put together" if the color is repeated at least once. The counters are repeated in your knobs, but right now the backsplash is all alone.
