Probably. The same issues the material had with polyurethane finish on hardwood could show up with the urethane finish on vinyl.

The plasticizers in the rug pad are the issue. The finish on vinyl or hardwood can also have plasticizers which have a chemical reaction with the one's in the rug pad.

I found rugpadusa where they sell felt pads. Anyone familiar with them?

Anne I have three rugpads from RugPadUSA - all are on hardwood floor and none have left marks on my floors. They would a wonderful job of keeping the rugs in place even when the 95lb doberman is running full speed chasing the cat around lol
