I think it's a great vintage bath! I'm glad partim directed you to Retro Renovation. It's a great resource. I'd look into an integral sink in white (off-white) for a clean, no nonsense vibe. I would absolutely not paint the vanity!

You might want to simplify the window treatment(s), remove the bath mat and swap out the shower curtain for plain white (off-white). The glass shelf doesn't add much in the way of storage or display value, so, I'd remove it. Add fluffy white towels and maybe a graphic kilim runner and you're set!

Keep the tile, floor, and vanity. Replace the countertop with white quartz, and install white under mount sinks and new faucets. Remove the glass shelf and the curtain. You can keep the walls white, or try a very pale blue (like the sand and sky).

Light blue was the go to color with fawn. I know that because when fawn was in style, I was a shower curtain designer/stylist for a shower curtain company and we has to match the in shower tile colors

I love your bathroom! I would get rid of that glass shelf and update the window treatments as suggested above and do a picture or more substantial shelves above the toilet. I would also swap the vanity hardware and the hand towel hanger with something more streamlined, maybe all chrome? and possibly the faucets as well. I can't tell what your mirror situation is, but you could also consider doing a pair of framed mirrors over the vanity. A cool wallpaper or patterned shower curtain that incorporated the fawn would add some color, and update the bathmat/towels.

I think you have a near perfect 50/ 60’s bathroom. It would be a shame to ruin it by painting the cabinets or doing anything to the tiles or tub. There are some great suggestions here - replace the countertop, sink, faucet. Paint or wallpaper, a new shower curtain. You are very lucky
