I'm posting this here because this honestly should qualify as an "Old Garden Rose". The seed parent is Nessie, which is a hybrid of [(R. Brunonii X R. Gigantea) X Mlle Cecile Brunner). The pollen parent is a Viru Viraraghavan Tea Hybrid, Faith Whittlesey. It resulted from Reve d'Or X [(Echo X R. Gigantea) X Marie Van Houtte]. Even with all of the cathedral eaters behind it, this appears to wish to remain a bush. It first flowered in 2019 and is now flowering profusely. The first flowers last year and until this week looked like this

Now it has matured and built some size, the flowers are now like this.

It may well continue changing with age. We shall see. Yes, there is scent.

This is so interesting! Kim, the rose seeds you sent me from rosa "Kim Rupert" germinated at an astonishing rate -- I've got about 40 baby roses that I'll have to figure out how to evaluate. Seeing how different the blooms can be is going to help with that.

Wonderful! How neat! Evaluating them isn't as hard as it may seem. Some will be weak, some will be overly vigorous, some will mildew, some won't. Think of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Something is always "too" or not enough, until you find the "just right". I guaranty you'll find some that really aren't all that great, but they "speak" to you, so you let them hang around. That can quickly eat up all of your room. That teaches you to more efficiently evaluate and cull. It makes it MUCH easier!

Kim, the only other rose with such prominent curled petaloids as that -- that I'm familiar with -- would be 'Bishop Darlington' , , , But it's one of his most charming aspects ...

so, I hope your little "new/old" rose keeps that.
