Five of my favorite red-leafed Japanese maples.

I have 90 Japanese maples, ranging from variegated to red-leafed to green-leafed to yellow-leafed to changing leaf colors, but here are five red-leafed ones I love and the reasons why:

Fireglow changes at the start of November, extending fall, but it's red is so vibrant that it gives me six months of fall.

Red Flash is aptly named, for it flashes bright red in the spring and returns to that bright red in the fall, but in-between, it's still pretty red.

Shojo Nomura is also a nice shade of red all summer and ti's a fast grower. The Shojo Nomura in the photo was bought by mail just last summer and came in a skinny box and look at it now!

Margaret Bee blazes with color in the fall.

Royale is a tiny tree with tiny leaves and thus, a nice change of pace.

The photos are in the same order as this list and were all taken in the rain, all in late June, except for the the Fireglow, which was photographed November 1st.
