Is this a good time to transplant small Hostas plants in the ground?

I have several 3" to5" pots of Hostas that I have been growing indoors for 5-6 months. Each pot will produce 3-6 little plants. They need to go outdoors! I have a bed ready for them and will plant them on landscape fabric. The fabric is 3 ft wide and I will leave walk space between the rows of fabric.

How far apart should I plant them using the 3 ft wide fabric. This planting is to get them over the winter and allow the roots to spread out. I will transplant them to my garden next year. They all have leaves on them now.
