We are replacing our 2nd story exterior Douglas fir board and batten siding (we have had cracking and warping issues). We have a real stone 1st story exterior. We would like to replace the siding with something that most resembles rustic, realistic wood and is also a board and batten look. We'd like something tight-fitting to keep out the elements. We do have woodpeckers that have occasionally been an issue with the siding in the past. We would also consider horizontal siding, but only if we can't find an alternative. We've considered LP Smartside and real wood, but are not feeling settled about anything to really meet our needs/wants. We live in a rural, wooded setting in Iowa. Any recommendations would be very much appreciated. Thank you.
