The labor to install cheap tile is identical as that to install expensive tile and labor is most of the expense of a tile job. Money comes and goes, but the regret you'll feel in that bathroom is permanent.

True but at $38/sq ft for a 5x5’ floor, it really adds up quickly!

I'd keep looking and try for something with value also in the tile itself. Those materials, grout color and tile, seem ordinary with the price only reflected in the pattern. A few weeks of viewing daily and the novelty can wear off.

Have you even been to Olympia Tile at Lawrence and Dufferin? Large selections and used to be competatively priced. If you have the specs on the tile, perhaps give them a call to see if they carry and the price or bring with you to find something similar and a better price.

Thanks @dan1888. You are probably right about the novelty. The tile itself is from Italy which is part of the price.

We have a hex tile in the principal bath and I didn’t really want it for this hall bath but we may just end up with it for a fraction of the cost.

Thanks for the suggestion, Maureen. We are in Oakville and found this tile at a large flooring retailer in Burlington. I will try the Olympia Tile store.
