I would let him decide when to paint and what color to paint. That said. I love the color of his house. His house is really cute.

If it had to be painted I’d say. Black. Navy. White. ( these are more masculine choices )

Don't get me wrong he wants to paint it. I hoped I"d get some helpful suggestions.

I think a charcoal gray would look good. Also what is under the siding on the porch columns. They would look better without the siding. Maybe wrap them in some cedar or paint them white. I would also paint the tails (exposed part) of the rafters the trim color.

Since your son wants to paint, why don't try it the other way around: Let him ask your feedback on a few colors that he likes. That way, he can commit. It will be good for him and you!

Arts and Craft bungalow are usually earthy tones. Maybe you can find a chart of those colors. Red is a great color but it tends to fade faster than other colors.

Is the ceiling of the porch stained? If not, maybe he can paint it a haint blue. Wonderful color for ceilings. I think porch decking and step treads should be a light to medium gray; risers white.
