Sorry but your contractor is not a KD and has no say in the cabinets you get. They usually get some kind of kickback from certain places and so not really reliable advice. Get an indpedant KD get a good design then choose a cabinet company . If budget is aserious issue go to Ikea get awesome cabinets with a great price and warranty and they offer design service too.

We put in Medallion Gold series cabinets 8 years ago. Raised panel (sorry don't remember the specific name), in Maple with Chestnut stain. Out contractor sent us to the KD @ Kelly Fradet Lumber in Enfield CT and that is the brand they deal with. We are very pleased with the cabinets, and they still look brand new; just need a wipe with water to clean.
