I think what makes it an eyesore is the clutter on the desk so maybe try to find some way of hiding that first the desk is really not a good one because there is a shelf under the work surface so hard to actually work there .@ monitors on such a small space are not making this any easier . Are they a neccessity? Probably a bit more info as to is this for actual work ?

If you could do anything to the space I’d probably do st like this:

When it’s closed you can’t tell what’s there ....

Otherwise a new desk with more storage and a new chair will be great

That looks like a tall desk. Here is something simple that will blend better if you are looking for something like that.

I am not sure what you are planning as you said ..."to hold us over"
