Love the look! I'm going to do this in my remodel. How do you attach the butt board? subwall? top and bottom under molding? Also How do you get the white wash look?

We can't provide details on installation as the method will be dependent on factors specific to your project. However, the white wash look is just watered down paint. Start with a 50/50 mixture and adjust up or down to achieve your desired level of opacity.
