Forsythia pruning

This Forsythia shrub at our new home was an overgrown tangled mess that leaned decidedly to one side. I decided to cut it right back after it flowered so we could enjoy it for a couple of years before we get around to landscaping. Can anyone tell me which shoots if any I should remove to avoid the tangled mess again? TIA
