What type of insulation to use to seal up chimney hole?

We had an old wood burning fireplace that we recently replaced during our whole house renovation. They installed the new chase, but it is significantly less bulky than the previous one. we will be closed cell spray foaming the basement walls, but what do we need to add to this gaping hole prior? Can spray foam come into contact with the chase?

You cannot have spray foam or fiberglass insulation touching the exhaust vent pipe of a wood burning fireplace. Rock-wool has a much higher melting point and may be a good option.

I see wood framing, conduit and a PVC pipe in close proximity to the flue. Are you satisfied that the minimum clearances to combustibles has been observed?
