Personally, I wouldn't paint those cabinets. Heavily grained oak cabinets with the cathedral detail don't paint out well (IMO) and after a few years of wear and tear on a DIY paint job they will not look as good as they look today.

I'm not a color expert by any stretch and rely on Maria Killam's palette's a lot. I'd sample two of her complex cream recommendations on the walls... Ben Moore Navajo White and/or Sherwin Williams Casa Blanca.

One of the best updates would probably be to pull off the short backsplash and install a new tiled backsplash.

I have the same counters with a cream travertine subway tile back splash & cream walls. It works well together.
