What room is it in? Foyer, basement, living room, etc?

FIrst thought is reading nook, like the first photo from @kandrewspa. But it depends on what your needs are, as it's actually quite a bit of space to get a decent amount of function. For instance, do you need closet/storage space or are you just looking to stage it nicely?

22” deep isn’t deep enough for either seating or any desk area. Its a bit too deep for open storage. A custom cabinet maker can create a set of 18” deep drawers below and upper cabinets that could let it be used as a narrow dry bar, or media storage to put the TV.

Love the bookcase idea, what's across from this space?

Thanks. This is in the basement and across from this space, literally 3 feet away or less, is partially a bathroom and also just an open area.

Do you have kids that might use the space? If so, I would paint the walls a fun color, add some low storage and put a comfy cushion on top.
