The plumeria is in a black nursery pot, but the soil level is about 8-10" below the top edge of the pot. I think it's a 10-15 gallon pot. I'd like to get it into a more appropriately sized pot. I have one, whiskey barrel style. Maybe better to do in the spring, but I'd like to get this project done sooner rather than wait until spring. It still has all its leaves, altho' I know they will all fall off eventually. Can I do it now?

It was a gift, so I'd feel bad to kill it.
