Wash Dryer Decisions

I'm planning to redo my kitchen but due to a lack of space i cannot afford the luxury of a separate washer and dryer so have been researching the option of a combined washer dryer. From what i've read so far the Heat Pump options seem to be better at not heating up the room and being more energy efficient but the manufacturers are not making the selection process easy as most don't state whether the machine uses heat pump or condenser drying technology. Also the combined wash and dry cycle times on some of these machines is super long, 7-8+ hours and again the manufacturers don't really state the combined cylce times.

Can anyone recommend any good washer dryer options that are heat pump based and have a reasonable wash and dry cycle time?

I bought an LG Washtower that uses a heat pump and is ventless. When I dry on Energy saver mode, the drying times are long. Depending on my schedule, the dryer also has a Timed drying option that allows one to select a specific time. Sometimes I use the energy saver option, other times I select a specific time. Please look at the specs for this unit in the LG website for more information.

If you're in America the two big contenders are LG and GE. Both use heat pump technology.

Thenk you @georgect, i'm actually based in the UK, but we have LG appliances here, not GE.

The only WashTower LG sell in the UK is the WT1210BBTN1. It has the same footprint of a washing machine but is 1,65 cm tall, since it's essentially a dryer stacked on top of a washer. Of course, this is a heat pump dryer.

Another option is the LG LSWD100E, which is also a heat pump combo but sized pretty much like a normal washer. This thing is packed with technology (saw a teardown video once), so I don't know how durable it is.

Keep in mind that LG washers over here are terrible at temperature control. It's usually way off from what is set. Seems to be an LG thing. Both of these appliances are also really expensive - you'll need to do your math and see how long it would take until you are saving money vs. purchasing a cheaper, less efficient washer dryer.

L9WEC169R is the AEG combo with heat pump. Our German consumer magazine liked it - mostly due to its efficiency.

All these choices will take a while to run a full wash & dry cycle. Usually along the lines of: start a load before going to work and come back to clean/dry clothes.

The #on the manual is WKHC202H. It has washer on bottom and dryer on top. It is one unit and the controls are in the middle so that a short person can easily reach them. Yes, it was expensive. It’s working out well for just the two of us. Good luck!
