I just asked about colour-matching at Home Depot. I love the colour White Dove from Benjamin Moore and I almost always go with a local BM dealer for my paint. I wanted to refresh 2 walls in my daughter’s room and just didn’t feel like spending the $80 for a can of BM. I do love their paint, but I knew I’d only need half a gallon — the difference between buying 2 quarts and a gallon is $10, so it doesn’t make sense to buy the quarts. But then I end up with all this left over paint. In any case, I thought I’d try to have Home Depot match White Dove using Behr paint. The guy at the paint desk at HD said that Behr has taken BM’s most popular colours (White Dove is one of them) and has re-created formulas that create better colour matches using their paints. I was a bit sceptical, but at literally half the price, I thought I’d give it a try. Plus, I was planning to repaint all the white in my daughter’s room, so if the colour was slightly different, it didn’t really matter. The match ended up being very, very close. It wasn’t perfect, but was slightly less yellow and I liked the effect more than the original which I always thought was a bit too yellow. And it was worth saving $40. I still have a lot of paint left. I found the paint quality to be very high for the price. I would definitely consider this option again! Just my two bits!
