Our 15 Favorite Royal Wedding Souvenirs
Deck Your Home With Crowns, Corgis and "It Should Have Been Me"
If you're anything like me, the media frenzy of the royal wedding is starting to feel ridiculous. It's almost impossible to turn on the television or open a magazine without seeing some spin or scandal on Will and Kate. Despite the overwhelming public obsession, I have to admit that never-ending inventory of wacky royal souvenirs is one version of wedding mania I can't get enough of. While there's a huge amount of bizarre bric-a-brac ranging from Kate and William toilet covers to Royal Wedding Barf Bags, the wedding has also inspired a good amount of excellent artists to create beautiful mementos commemorating what truly is a historic event.
"It Should Have Been Me" Plate
The cheeky humor of this plate's not-so-subtle bitterness cracks me up. As the designer states, "This plate echoes the thoughts of many ladies (and men) the world over." I couldn't have said it better myself.
Will & Kate Forever by Jonathan Adler
LivingEtc, the British design magazine, commissioned designers from all over Britain to create unique plates in honor of Will and Kate's wedding. I'm partial to Welsh Corgis, so I couldn't help but admire this one by Jonathan Adler. Bidding starts at £30.
"Thanks for the Free Day Off" Plate
Of course there's the other end of the spectrum — those who are simply grateful for a day off work. (Although technically they have the Prime Minister to thank for that.)
Royal Wedding Commemorative Mug
If Jonathan Adler is a bit too modern for you, but the idea of limited editions by well-known British designers is appealing, consider this must-have mug by renowned UK ceramic company Emma Bridgewater. It may be on the pricey side, but if you love the royals, it's a souvenir you'll cherish for years to come.
William & Catherine Chair Commemorative
Some might argue that this toes the line of cheesy, but I think it's a pretty classy way to pay tribute to the upcoming royal nuptials. It's traditional without being over-the-top, and I love any souvenir that has an everyday, practical use.
Queen Clock
With all the hullabaloo surrounding Will and Kate, it's easy to forget about the woman in charge of it all: the Queen. Have an hourly reminder of her royal majesty with this prim and proper silhouette in a cheerful shade of orange.
Crowns & Coronets Wallpaper
Wallpaper company Graham & Brown designed "Crowns and Coronets" just for Will and Kate. The classic pattern gets a fresh update with a smart interactive twist: the wallpaper comes with self-adhesive jewels that allow you to customize the look however you wish.
Cath Kidston Royal Wedding Souvenir Tea Towel
Tea towels are another practical home good that royal wedding fiends are fawning over. These towels are so perfectly British, and you can really never have enough. Cath Kidston's fresh English cottage-style designs are a great fit for a traditional or eclectic home style.
Royal Wedding Tea Towel
If you're feeling like this whole wedding thing is getting out of control, this tea towel might be the perfect way to honor that sentiment. Remember the "Royal Rumble" forever (or at least as long as this towel lasts) with this clever print by Luke James.
Royal Wedding Tea Towel Westminster Abbey
Like some of my favorite royal wedding souvenirs, this one is a subtle celebration of the royal wedding (i.e., without the couple's face plastered on it), and the design is strong, but very pretty. It's adorable as a tea towel, but I'd love it in a print too!
Linen Union Tea Towel
Another subtle tea towel, but a bit more conventional in design, Thornback and Peel's design is simple, self-explanatory, and will always be in style.
Processional Map of Royal Wedding
This print has been incredibly popular online, and it's no wonder why. Created by Danish art team The House That Lars Built, it sweetly reveals the processional for William and Kate's wedding, starting at Buckingham Palace and ending at Westminster Abbey.
William and Kate Royal Wedding print
This typographic tribute to the happy couple is a wonderfully festive and happy print with a slightly retro feel (again, couldn't resist with the Corgi at the top right).
Rustic Royal Wedding Bunting
Throwing a live royal wedding viewing party in the middle of the night? Add some authentic British style with this burlap bunting, designed with Will and Kate's initials in royal blue.
Kate: Style Princess: The Fashion and Beauty Secrets of Britain's Mo
Like Diana before her, the soon-to-be Princess Kate has a classic but unique style that is both adored and criticized all over the world. This collection of her beauty and style secrets — and tips on how to get her look — is a great coffee table book.
