Cape Cod
Warm-hued grasses. Grasses might be the first plants we think about when we imagine warm winter browns, and they can provide beautiful backdrops, textures and even sounds. Using grasses to contrast darker winter-killed perennial foliage can result in a dramatic design. Brighter grasses start to pop even more when the sun backlights them. Little bluestem (Schizachyrium scoparium) lends tans and grays, whereas Indian grass (Sorghastrum nutans), a taller grass, shows off hints of coppery brown. Switchgrass (Panicum virgatum) offers a brighter tanned yellow.
