Contender For Most Used Space In The Home: Kitchen Nooks
A kitchen nook conjures up images of sitting around a cozy table with a cup of coffee or tea with family, friends, or enjoying a quiet moment. I have been updating this space in my own home, and the next project centers around an art or chalkboard wall, or perhaps I'll even combine the two! Before deciding, of course I had to take a look at what interesting kitchen nooks could be found on Houzz!
Kitchen nooks are probably one of the most used corners in a home. While some people think of them as a space where a table is placed in front of a built-in bench, in many homes it is simply a table placed within a kitchen area. Regardless, this ideabook showcases some stylish examples of kitchen nooks, both built-in and free standing.

As if the stunning cabinetry and boxed beamed ceiling were not enough, a striking bench in this kitchen nook upholstered in a bold gray and white stripe adds wonderful style.
With such outstanding architecture, the furniture choices need to be special to have any chance of living up to the space. The cobalt blue sofa in this kitchen nook fits the bill.
Covering a kitchen nook bench with vinyl is a stylish solution, especially in the pale blue. What a great idea if kids are to eat often at this table. Simply wipe away any mess and the space is back to pretty...how convenient.
There is enough symmetry, beautiful cabinetry and lovely lighting to get me excited about this space. Restrained and classic, yet interesting with the pale blue wall color and built-in bench. I could see enjoying a nice afternoon talking with friends in this nook.
A long oval table is perfectly tucked into this smaller space, maximizing the number of chairs that can be comfortably placed here. The pale yellow chairs are practically the only color seen, brightening the room and looking lovely against the gray floors, white walls and cabinetry. The accent point of the design is the large collection of photographs, all framed in black.
Here is an intriguing mix of vintage charm with industrial glamor. A Saarinen table and a pair of cozy chairs fill this kitchen nook, complete with a rare NYC garden view.
In studying this photo I realized there is a bench wrapping around two sides of the table, with one side of the bench an extension of the peninsula. Am I right? The bench is painted a pale gray blue and appears to be full of storage options. What a great solution to getting the most out of a fairly compact space.
This renovated home stays true to its vintage roots. I love the steel cased windows which ground the space visually and the formica table and simple bench create a functional kitchen nook.
This modern kitchen in a condo is sleek and spacious with a bench and table placed underneath a window, creating a functional kitchen nook. But what I am must curious about in this space is the chair pieces arranged as art. It looks to be a Thornet chair, but with a few pieces missing. Thoughts anyone?
