It all feels very Japanese inspired; the natural materials, the simplicity, the clean lines and the opening up to the garden/nature. What a shame that it stands empty.

Schindler, being a student of FLW, employed the “Japanese” simplicity which FLW had been introduced to early in his career through drawings and I believe brought into his designs especially after visiting Japan. It was influential He FLW designed the imperial hotel in Japan.

@ Margaret. My mother came from Germany and has always kept her bedroom windows open thru the night, all seasons. Of course, we had the "featherticks" to keep us cozy and warm in winter. It was very hard to pull myself out of bed in the morning, tho, with the room so frigid. She and Dad are in Florida now. She still insists on the open windows at night, not grasping that all that heat and humidity really gives the AC a workout.
