In 2008 an extension was added to this small country home thus allowing the clients to redesign the main floor with a larger master suite, housing a separate vanity, and a bathroom filled with technology, elegance and luxury.
Although the existing space was acceptable, it did not reflect the charismatic character of the clients, and lacked breathing space.
By borrowing the ineffective space from their existing “entrance court” and removing all closets thus permitting for a private space to accommodate a large vanity with Jack and Jill sinks, a separate bathroom area housing a deep sculptural tub with air massage and hydrotherapy combination, set in a perfect symmetrical fashion to allow the beautiful views of the outdoor landscape, a thin 30” LCD TV, and incorporating a large niche wall for artful accessories and spa products, as well as a private entrance to the large well organized dressing room with a make-up counter. A peaceful, elegant yet highly functional on-suite was created by this young couple’s dream of having a contemporary hotel chic palette inspired by their travels in Paris. Using the classic black and white color combination, a touch of glam, the warm natural color of cherry wood and the technology and innovation brought this retreat to a new level of relaxation.
CLIENTS NEEDS
Better flow, Space to blend with surrounding open area – yet still have a “wow effect”
Create more organized and functional storage and take in consideration client’s mobility handicap.
A large shower, an elongated tall boy toilette ,a bidet, a TV, a deep bathtub and a space to incorporate art. Designate an area to house a vanity with 2 sinks, separate from toilette and bathing area.

By removing most walls and re-dividing the space to fit the client’s needs, this improves the traffic flow and beautifies the line of sight. A feature wall using rich materials such as white carrara marble basket weave pattern on wall and a practical bench platform made out of Staron-pebble frost, back-lit with a well concealed LED strip light. The glow of two warm white spot lights, highlight the rich marble wall and ties this luxuriant practical element inviting guests to the enticing journey of the on-suite.
Incorporate pot-lights in ceiling for general lighting. Add crystal chandeliers as focal point in the vanity area and bathroom to create balance and symmetry within the space. Highlight areas such as wall niches, vanity counter and feature wall sections. Blend architectural elements with a cool white LED strip lighting for decorative-mood accents.
Integrate a large seamless shower so as to not overpower the main attraction of the bathroom, insert a shower head tower with adjustable shower heads, The addition of a state of the art electronic bidet seat fitted on to an elongated tall boy toilette. Special features of this bidet include; heated seat, gentle washing ,cleaning and drying functions, which not only looks great but is more functional than your average bidet that takes up too much valuable space.
SPECIAL FEATURES
The contrasting materials using classic black and white elements and the use of warm tone materials such as natural cherry for the pocket doors is the key element to the space, thus balances the light colors and creates a richness in the area.
The feature wall elements with its richness and textures ties in the surrounding spaces and welcomes the individual into the space .
The aesthetically pleasing bidet seat is not only practical but comforting as well.
The Parisian Philippe Starck Baccarat inspired bathroom has it’s many charms and elegance as well as it’s form and function.
Loads of storage neatly concealed in the design space without appearing too dominant yet is the aspect of the success of this design and it’s practicality.

The project involves the reconstruction of a typical two-storey stone house in Mani, at the traditional settlement of Trahila. The main building elements have been preserved as such. Our intention was to intervene in a distinct way. Additional new elements out of steel and wooden sections have been integrated in the old house stone shell. The space above the dining room remained empty, awarding the impression of a two-storey house interior and highlighting the light metal constructions. A ground floor guesthouse has been added to the house. It was constructed at a distance of the main building, creating thus a courtyard between both the two buildings and the main entrance of the property. A perforated metal door used as an entrance allows undisturbed views to the sea, all through the courtyard. The guesthouse flat-roof is used as a terrace and is connected via a metal bridge to the first floor of the main building.

Designer Kitchen by Morgan
We were instructed to refurbish an existing kitchen and specifically asked for a design that would be airy and modern to include some “wow factor” features to satisfy the very precise tastes of this design savvy client.
We were told to use the ovens from the old kitchen, to include a large island with seating and to create a visually attractive feature around the main entrance doorway.
We initially extended the mezzanine introducing a bulkhead above the window area which obscured the top of the units from above and this allowed mood up-lighting and task lighting to be introduced.
The junction between the new bulk head and Mezzanine created a natural break between the entrance door and the kitchen and we used this to define our approach.
A large solid ash pivot door was introduced to enhance the existing entrance. The angular solid ash frame was designed to absorb the angular nature of the surrounding architecture and its design considered the existing entrance and door head position with the precise pivoting position being calculated to work within these parameters.
The existing under floor heating meant that a conventional pivot system couldn’t be introduced into the floor so we sourced a specialised system that could be concealed within the door which needed only an 8mm protrusion into the floor.
The aesthetic impact of the pivot door was balanced with the inclusion of a matching solid ash barn door on the opposite side of the room with a solid ash tambour door helping to balance the look whilst providing the client with a small appliance garage.
The island was designed with simplicity in mind with subtle hidden layers helping to deliver impact.
The waterfall worktops create a monolithic presence from various angles which is purposefully contradicted by using heavily chamfered edges along the front of the island to create a floating appearance. The holistic impact is enhanced further by detaching the cabinetry from all surrounding surfaces and including LED lighting which can create a glowing effect at night.
The inclusion of a custom made Gutmann Abajo extraction system delivers unobtrusive functionality enhancing the look further.
The recessed grip handles were made from solid ash and designed to punctuate the design in a unique way, purposefully falling short of the door lengths and penetrating through into the tall cabinetry from the low level units. This required gables, doors and handles to be individually specified to create the look.
Some of the drawer fronts were oversized so as to conceal the large filler required to absorb the angles presented by the walls.
Blum Legrabox drawers and inserts were carefully programmed to deliver functional performance and these drawers helped to deliver a crisp and contemporary interior finish.

The main advantage for below ground automated gates is that you don't see arms strapped to the rear of the gate - minimising the impact of the look. Instead, motors are inserted below ground and attach to the gate.

Simply Home Decorating
When a young professional couple approached us to decorate the main floor of their brand new modern townhouse in Port Coquitlam, we were very excited. Having moved from a Gastown condo, the couple was eager to infuse this suburban location with a funky yet sophisticated downtown vibe. They were also looking for a neutral backdrop with some hits of colour and asked us to incorporate wallpaper. The statement artwork that we selected above the fireplace set the tone for this project. We started with a pair of sleek neutral leather sofas to maximize seating in the small living space and layered them with a variety of toss pillows in blues, teals & turquoise then added a few pops of orange. We defined the front entrance and dining area with a stunning marbleized grey and white wallpaper by Graham and Brown. The dark wood furniture in the dining area adds contrast and sophistication balancing the dark stained kitchen cabinets opposite. The resulting look is clean, modern and playful. The shape of this house, located in a gated neighborhood to the west of Greater Buenos Aires, was inspired by a painting and its driving force was the coincidence of the lines dribbled by its owners long before getting to know each other.
On a trial-and-error basis, it was an experimental project where we sought to get rid of the influences of the predominant images of current design and the main aim was to search for internal and external sensations, sustainability and re-using of left-over materials.
This generates situations to be found almost constantly; the virtual relationship with the garden and its pond, with three levels, interacting with each other through the double-height glass at the different times of the day, together with the clouds, the sky and its different hues. The cross ventilation and the sun entering the room in winter are also significant.
The functional layout finds a solution, in few meters, to the needs of a very large family. On the ground floor, the kitchen, the dining room and the sitting room are integrated so as to offer a spatial continuity that makes them flexible from a functional point of view and visually larger. The half-covered garage, located next to these rooms works as a complement to them, becoming a barbecue area that may be fully closed. The finishes are mainly those of the construction in apparent conditions: reinforced concrete, wood, aluminum and glass.
The main construction system involves rigid frameworks, built by concrete and steel beams and columns, whose main function is to cover large areas with little material and to replace division walls by other items such as furniture, plants, panels, metal or wooden and glass sheets.
Thus, the rooms are filled with natural light and are offered an industrial aspect inspired by the origin of Lofts in New York.

This project was initially a main floor renovation – the kitchen was old and dated and the layout was poor for entertaining.
Sounds simple enough, but it was only achieved by removing a trap door and the original external basement stairs and building a new side entrance to the lower level. From our first meeting I knew that the trap door was going to be the boss of the renovation – sometimes it’s the oddest things in a home that determine the course, size and scope of a project. We increased the size of the main floor by levelling of the back of the house; this increased the foot print in the kitchen and brought in much more natural light. Custom millwork and plaster mouldings were designed and installed in every room. Lighting was updated and new furniture and soft-furnishings were designed and sourced. On the second floor we renovated the master bedroom and the dressing room. In the basement we dug down, greatly improving the head height and formed a cozy media room and a lux laundry and mudroom.

Residence @ Lakeshore is a 3-bedroom apartment located besides Jurong Lake Garden, for a young family with 2 children. The design of the interior of this apartment is modern and minimalistic, with emphasis on natural material like stone and wood as the main material palette.
LIVING-DINING-DRY KITCHEN
The highlight of the apartment is the view to Jurong Lake Garden, which can be appreciated once you enter through the main door. The open plan that arranged the entrance foyer, dry-kitchen, dining and living room as a seamlessly continuous space allows the view of the Jurong Lake Garden from all these functional zones, making it the most important decision taken to the planning of the space. On one side of the space, a marble-clad wall (Black forest) is the feature - stretching continuously from the entrance foyer, through the dry-kitchen, dining space, living room to the large windows framing the Lake Garden at the end. The natural veins of the black forest marble arranged in a horizontal manner resembles the waves of water, complementing the feeling of living besides a lake. On the other side, a black tinted mirror wall enlarged the interior space through reflection and further extend the panoramic view of Lake Garden through the windows.
GALLERY
Extending beyond the mirror wall is the gallery leading into the private realms of the house – bedrooms and study room. Designed with wood finishing the walls and ceiling, the gallery unifies the entrances into the different rooms as one, transcending a mere distribution space – as a place for art collection display.
ROOMS
The gallery leads into a few rooms. The study room is designed as an extension of the gallery with only glass doors dividing the physical space. The master bedroom continues the use of wood in design expression, emphasising the natural material and minimalist style. The guest room is designed with an automatic Murphy Bed to suit the use of this room - a space that is multifunctional. The children room’s wall is painted like a beach front, pushing the imagination of the children’s mind with its’ association to the lake besides.
Drury Design
The 100-year old home’s kitchen was old and just didn’t function well. A peninsula in the middle of the main part of the kitchen blocked the path from the back door. This forced the homeowners to mostly use an odd, U-shaped corner of the kitchen.
Design objectives:
-Add an island
-Wow-factor design
-Incorporate arts and crafts with a touch of Mid-century modern style
-Allow for a better work triangle when cooking
-Create a seamless path coming into the home from the backdoor
-Make all the countertops in the space 36” high (the old kitchen had different base cabinet heights)
Design challenges to be solved:
-Island design
-Where to place the sink and dishwasher
-The family’s main entrance into the home is a back door located within the kitchen space. Samantha needed to find a way to make an unobstructed path through the kitchen to the outside
-A large eating area connected to the kitchen felt slightly misplaced – Samantha wanted to bring the kitchen and materials more into this area
-The client does not like appliance garages/cabinets to the counter. The more countertop space, the better!
Design solutions:
-Adding the right island made all the difference! Now the family has a couple of seats within the kitchen space. -Multiple walkways facilitate traffic flow.
-Multiple pantry cabinets (both shallow and deep) are placed throughout the space. A couple of pantry cabinets were even added to the back door wall and wrap around into the breakfast nook to give the kitchen a feel of extending into the adjoining eating area.
-Upper wall cabinets with clear glass offer extra lighting and the opportunity for the client to display her beautiful vases and plates. They add and an airy feel to the space.
-The kitchen had two large existing windows that were ideal for a sink placement. The window closest to the back door made the most sense due to the fact that the other window was in the corner. Now that the sink had a place, we needed to worry about the dishwasher. Samantha didn’t want the dishwasher to be in the way of people coming in the back door – it’s now in the island right across from the sink.
-The homeowners love Motawi Tile. Some fantastic pieces are placed within the backsplash throughout the kitchen. -Larger tiles with borders make for nice accent pieces over the rangetop and by the bar/beverage area.
-The adjacent area for eating is a gorgeous nook with massive windows. We added a built-in furniture-style banquette with additional lower storage cabinets in the same finish. It’s a great way to connect and blend the two areas into what now feels like one big space!
